Nintendo Of America To Restock Rare Amiibos: Fox, Little Mac, Greninja And More

Kids and former kids who grew up with Nintendo games are up for a treat as the video game company announces the restock of previously released popular Amiibos in select retailers.

On one of its official Twitter account, Nintendo of America, the company unveiled a group picture of some Amiibos, with a caption, “Look who’s back! Little Mac, Greninja, Shulk, Lucario, Fox & Captain Falcon will be restocked @ select retailers soon.”

Of the five figures, three were earlier introduced as retailer exclusives – Shulk at GameStop and EB Games and Greninja and Lucario at Toys R Us. It remains to be seen whether a similar arrangement will hold for the restock.

Amiibos, character figures connected to Nintendo games, have been a must-have for many toy collectors. The toys function like a gamer’s voodoo doll. In addition to having cute and superb physical toys, Amiibo owners may link the figures to the game to control the character and get power-ups, new outfits or other fun bonuses. One Amiibo may work with multiple games.

So far, at least 75 Amiibos for Super Mario, Pokemon, Sonic the Hedgehog and many other games have been released and more interactive character figures are coming soon.

Super Mario is the most popular of the characters. In fact, different versions of Mario have been released to commemorate special events of Nintendo.

One of the downsides to the release of Amiibo is that certain figures are very rare and hard to get because of the number produced and store exclusivity. Many of the store-exclusive Amiibos have been sold out for ages, leading scalpers to take to eBay and sell them at exorbitant prices.

Upon the latest announcement, gamers were quick to comment, with one asking the company to release at least two figures per character in a store.

Nintendo has always been known to come up with ideas that can be sold many times over, as well as keeping one’s interest in a character or game going several console generations down the road.
